How Does ZENITH Nutrition’s Resveratrol work?
Resveratrol, found in the skin and seeds of red grapes as well as in wine, berries and some plants, is a substance produced by plants in response to injury or fungal infection. It's believed to protect their delicate tissues from peroxidative stress and other damage that might result from illness, UV sun radiation or exposure to toxic substances.
As an antioxidant, resveratrol is believed to provide similar protective benefits for humans. Its antioxidant activity, or ability to neutralize free radicals (unstable molecules that attack healthy cells and damage membranes and DNA), may account for its beneficial effects. Resveratrol also appears to promote healthy blood composition and circulation, and may also have anti-inflammatory properties.
A recent landmark study from Harvard Medical School, published in the medical journal Nature, found that ultra-high doses of resveratrol allowed obese mice to eat a high fat diet and still live a long and healthy life¹. Researchers discovered that the liver and other systems in obese mice remained healthy, despite their poor health, and fat-related deaths dropped 31 percent, for those taking a resveratrol supplement.
Another recent study showed that resveratrol was able to protect mice from weight gain while also boosting physical endurance². After three weeks of supplementing with high doses of resveratrol, mice fed a high-fat diet weighed only 20% more than those eating a standard diet. Those who didn't take resveratrol weighed 60% more than the control mice.
