Waxy Maize is a complex starch derived from corn. It is converted into amylopectin, an energy sustaining polysaccharide that is absorbed into muscle tissue and converted to glycogen. Glycogen provides the body with energy as glucose, which is continuously re-synthesized by the body when using NOW’s Waxy Maize.
Who Should Use It?
This is a product we would recommend highly for endurance athletes who need slow sustaining release energy throughout the day. Amylopectin is a slow-absorbing polysaccharide which allows the body to draw on it over a period of time.
For those who want to go the stimulant-free, or vegetarian route, this is an ideal product. It won’t give you the quick bursting ATP rushes that Creatine provides, but it is great for sustaining endurance. For a lift-workout, we would combine it with another product in order to increase intensity.
True Protein’s Waxy Maize Starch is derived from natural corn starch and is a food grade modified starch. It is very bland in flavor and has a white fluffy like consistency. We recommend using a shaker cup or a blender (this is best) to mix this product. Immediate use is recommended as it has a tendency to clump. We have gone through great lengths testing and tweaking our Waxy Maize Starch to be palatable. We have found one that tastes fairly well and functionality wise it is top of the line.
